About Us

SFTheaterBuzz is a project of the non-profit San Francisco Theater Festival, whose mission is to promote live Bay Area theater. The SF Theater Festival is an amazing annual event with 100+ shows on one day in July, indoors and outdoors, at Yerba Buena Gardens. www.SFTheaterFestival.org. We believe that live theater is cool and rewarding and a great change of pace from the movies, music, and reading about Brad and Angelina.

The Bay Area is a hotbed of creativity and theater is very much in that bed. We hope this website will help get you into a hot bed too.

Like all great ideas-the wheel, penicillin, change machines-TheaterBuzz was created to fill a need: reliable and broad coverage of the Bay Area theater scene. As newspapers shrink and print reviewers disappear, live theater devotees find themselves in a pickle. The obstacles to theatergoing, from cost to parking to babysitter-finding, remained intact . But finding the performance that makes it all worthwhile got harder. SFTheaterBuzz is intended to help you, the theatergoer, find out whether a show-any show and every show, not just the blockbusters-is worth your time, effort and money.
